Makers for Health: Designing AI Tools for Global Wellness
Home: New York, United States of America
Makers for Health: Designing AI Tools for Global Wellness explores how creative technology can bridge health gaps in underserved communities. This project showcases two prototypes: an AI Health Literacy App that delivers culturally tailored, multilingual health education, and an AI Triage Assistant designed to guide users in identifying symptoms and seeking appropriate care. Both tools are rooted in design justice principles and developed with a focus on accessibility, empathy, and local context—demonstrating how makers can harness AI for equitable, community-driven health innovation.

Parson's Design + Technology
Parsons’ Design and Technology (DT) programs bring a critical intersectional lens to creative computation. Students explore the tools, methods, and theory needed to ethically reinvent the arts and creative industries. The diverse and vibrant DT learning community engages with a wide range of self-identified and ever-changing subjects including social media, games, data, machine learning, generative AI, bio design, digital fabrication, physical computation, and immersive experience design.

I was inspired by the need to make health information more accessible and culturally relevant in communities with limited healthcare access, like those in Guinea. Working at the intersection of design, technology, and health, I saw how AI could help bridge technological gaps and empower people to make informed decisions about their well-being. Makers for Health grew from a desire to design tools that are not only smart, but also empathetic—using creativity and technology to promote global wellness through human-centered innovation.
