The Design and Build Lab (DaBL) is American University's (AU) flagship makerspace, which offers students, faculty, and staff hands-on resources and training in creative and technical skills such as 3D printing, laser cutting, circuit board printing, and sewing. DaBL’s mission is to foster the spirit of inquiry-driven creativity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning through experiential and project-based curricula. By leveraging digital fabrication tools and processes, DaBL aims to cultivate an environment of innovation, with emphasis on collaborative cross-pollination across all of AU’s schools and departments.
