Los Angeles Groundwater Replenishment Program

The Los Angeles Ground Water Replenishment Program will purify up to 24 million gallons per day (mgd) of treated wastewater and produce up to 22,000 acre-feet (AF) per year of drinking water for the City of Los Angeles, enough for over 250,000 customers. The Advanced Water Purification Facility will break ground in December 2024 and is expected to begin replenishing purified water from the Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant to the Hansen Spreading Grounds in the San Fernando Valley in 2027. The purified water will recharge the San Fernando Groundwater Basin and provide a new drought-resistant source of drinking water for the City of Los Angeles.
