Project Title: The Oscillating Chemical Clock Reaction
This experiment demonstrates the Briggs-Rauscher reaction, a fascinating example of an oscillating chemical reaction. When mixed, the solution changes color from colorless to amber to dark blue repeatedly for several minutes. This happens due to a series of redox reactions and feedback loops. The project visually showcases chemical kinetics, reaction mechanisms, and the beauty of dynamic chemical systems in action.
The Briggs-Rauscher chemical clock reaction is more than just a fun experiment — it’s a powerful visual demonstration of how complex and beautiful chemistry can be. Through this project, I wanted to show that science is not only logical and precise but also full of surprises, motion, and art.

What Inspired You to Make This?
I was inspired to create this project because I wanted to show that science can be both educational and visually exciting. When I first saw a video of the Briggs-Rauscher reaction, I was amazed by how the liquid kept changing colors on its own — it looked like magic! I became curious about how and why it worked. After learning that it’s caused by a series of chemical reactions happening in a repeating cycle, I realized it was a perfect way to demonstrate the beauty and complexity of chemistry. I hope this experiment inspires others to see science not just as formulas and numbers, but as something creative and full of surprises.
