Department Chair, Building Industries & Rapid Prototyping Instructor Louie Garcia is the forward-thinking department chair of the Building Industries program, specializing in construction education. As the lead instructor for the Rapid Prototyping classes, Louie worked with I-3 students to develop innovative programs that encouraged out-of-the-box thinking and creative problem-solving. Known for his resourcefulness, Louie is a master of upcycling, transforming everyday trash into unique, functional projects. His passion for sustainable design and creative reuse inspires his students to think critically about materials and the endless possibilities for innovation.

Our staff is inspired by the challenge of seeing potential where others see waste. Their passion for sustainability drives them to explore creative ways to repurpose discarded materials, believing that every object has a second life waiting to be discovered. For them, the joy of transforming trash into functional, artistic pieces is not only an environmentally conscious practice but also a way to push the boundaries of traditional design thinking.
