Alcohol ink works like water colors where one will use isopropyl alcohol, 91%-99%, to dilute the color and then use a heat tool to create the marbling. More iso, the color can be soft and whisky, less iso and the color is more concentrated and bold. The colors can blend easily with one another, but color theory is a must. Alcohol ink can be used on any slick surface, but also on fabrics like silk or cotton.

What Inspired You to Make This?
I was inspired during the COVID-19 shutdown. I finally had so much time to myself to do something just for me; something I had always wanted to do but never made the time for. I started painting with Bob Ross, which was available on Netflix, then I moved to beginner step by step tutorials on YouTube. Thanks to the algorithm, I was introduced into alcohol inks. I was able to get some, but there was no isopropyl alcohol available at this time. However, I did have nail polish remover and it was sorta the same. I instantly fell in love. The simplicity of the vivid colors blending together, which was something I learned by painting with acrylics, that I loved most. Learning the ratio of ink to alcohol, is a journey of its own. Ink can be as soft as a feather or as bold as a dark roast coffee. From here, I found other things I could ink on and I did ink on anything I could get my hands on. Once the world opened back up, I found ceramics and acrylic blanks and with the gentle nudge from friends and family, I started showing my work to the public.
