Social Networking Project

The Social Networking Project consists of glass sculpture pieces created through live demonstrations, fostering community collaboration and meaningful connections. Using flameworking techniques with borosilicate rods, I begin by establishing a sturdy base structure. Precut glass rods of various sizes and lengths are made available to participants, who, after signing a safety waiver, can choose a piece to contribute. Wearing safety glasses, participants are invited to position their chosen rods on the structure as they see fit. I then carefully fuse the glass rods to the base, with each participant contributing within approximately three minutes. During this interactive art-making experience, I engage with the community, learning their names, discussing their familiarity with glass or art, and sharing in the joy they experience by contributing to this collective artwork. With the blinking Badge Magic LEDs and the Pocket Science Lab (PSLab), anyone can easily learn how science and coding work. At the booth, you can: Try out how to collect data with the PSLab or how to create moving graphics on LEDs. All you need is our free open-source apps—or bring your own laptop and experiment right at the booth using the Python programming language. The hardware is available for purchase on-site. We look forward to experimenting with you and making the world of technology come alive! We offer exciting hands-on activities centered around the open hardware projects Pocket Science Lab (PSLab) and Badge Magic LEDs. Workshop: “Create Your Own Light Graphics on a Mini LED Display with Python” Participants can use Python to create their own animated graphics, text, and animations on LED displays. All they need is a laptop—the workshop is beginner-friendly and explained step-by-step. It runs continuously, is free of charge, and our team is always available to help. The hardware used can also be purchased directly at the booth. Pocket Science Lab – The Pocket Lab: Visitors can try out the Pocket Science Lab and learn how to collect and analyze data. With our open-source app for smartphones or computers, experiments can be conducted on the spot. Tech enthusiasts can also learn more about the hardware, download the device schematics, and test the PSLab themselves.
