Custom 5-DOF Robotic Arm (Designed by a 9th Grader) This five-degree-of-freedom robotic arm was engineered entirely from scratch. The base rotation turret features a custom bearing assembly driven by a NEMA 23 stepper motor for high torque. - Axis 2 utilizes a NEMA 17 motor with a 16:60 belt-driven gear ratio for torque also. - Axis 3 is powered by another NEMA 17, dedicated to rotation. - Axis 4 introduces an angular joint mechanism, also actuated by a NEMA 17, enabling complex wrist-like movements. - Axis 5 provides another rotating motion, completing the arm's full range of motion. To print all the materials for my projects and exhibitions, I always prefer the Core One. It's fast, reliable, and more heavy-duty for materials like ASA, ABS, and CF. This project has all parts printed using a sponsored Prusa Core One. The filament I used was Overture ASA (sponsored as well).

Show Some Spine – From medical imagery to physical objects

Ever wanted to let someone borrow your brain? Show them you've got spine? Thanks to modern open source tools and off the shelf hardware, you can do just that. Computer axial tomography (CAT) and MRI scans are routinely ordered for all sorts of medical issues, and while their primary purpose is to diagnose medical conditions, they can also serve as great subject matter for 3D printing projects. In almost all cases, you can request a copy of your imagery, and then use freely available tools to isolate parts of your body and export them as an STL, ready to feed to your favorite slicer and print. Learn how to ask for your data, which tools work best, and see a 3D printed spine.
