Aqua&Terra: save the water to save the Earth

The project aims to optimise water use through the integration of local and remote data. Soil moisture information is used together with weather forecasts to accurately determine when is the best time to irrigate. The system measures the humidity of the soil through the use of a sensor and decides whether to activate irrigation on the basis of the values relating to the last few hours and the weather forecast data, taken through the invocation of web services. The acquired data is sent to a cloud platform for monitoring humidity levels and sensors.

Isola Ecologica

"Isola Ecologica" was conceived with the purpose of entertaining children whilst also contributing toward memory development and awareness regarding a very important contemporary theme. The game will consist of 1 board divided into 4 different environments (Beach, City, Park and Countryside), tiles depicting waste, 1 dice and the "Recycling Plant" which will have a digital reader inside to recognize the tiles, and some motorized hatches that represent the waste disposal bins. Each turn, a given player will collect 1 card from the environment rolled by the dice, place it on the reader, and then press the key corresponding to the correct bin, if the guess was right the LEDs will light up green and the trapdoor will open, otherwise the tile will have to be placed back on the board.

Vision All Majorana

VisionAll application helps visually impaired and blind students orienting by themselves, using technologies such as Bluetooth beacons/GPS to locate their position within the facility. This idea stems from our daily school experience of living with a visually impaired student. The development status of the project is still in a primordial stage, but VisionAll will be developed initially in our school. Maker Faire Rome is an opportunity to present our project and show that our app can break down all types of barriers.

Use of recycled rubber from end-of-life tires and PVC pellets from the recycling of electric cables in the creation of lightweight cement mortars with improved thermal insulation, acoustic damping and vibration absorption performance. Use of carbon fiber recycled from composite materials for the development of reinforced mortars with high mechanical strength performance. Prototypes of sandwich bricks that combine the above materials in a single constructive solution: core made of rubber-mortar and PVC-mortar and sheets of fiber-reinforced mortar with recycled carbon.
