Maker Faire Bay Area 2023

Squishy Circuit with a Light Switch

Home: California, United States

My project will teach kids the basics of electric circuitry. I will show how ordinary store bought play doh conducts electricity and how you can add a light switch to the circuit to turn the LED light on and off. I will bring additional materials so that other kids can create the circuit at my table. I will also present a colorful schematic of the electronic circuit to show how the electricity flows through the circuit. This will be a fun activity that kids and parents will enjoy creating.

What Inspired You to Make This?

In 2019, I attended the Bay Area Maker Faire and learned about the squishy circuit. I then began experimenting with store-bought play doh and other materials such as potatoes as conductors of electricity. I then added a light switch to the squishy circuit and successfully turned the LED light on and off.
