Motorized Bike, Gas Engine Toddler Trike, and See-Through Engine

Faire: Bay Area

Maker: Robert Dane Whitmire

Home: California, United States

I designed in CAD a bicycle frame with an engine mount, then used those measurements to cut, miter, holesaw, then weld together a frame. From there I painted, and assembled using bicycle parts, a Gasoline Motorized Bicycle that can go 30mph legally, get ~120mpg, and is a fully functional vehicle. Also some years ago I welded a mount onto the back of a toddler Radio Flyer Trike, and mounted a 135cc Gasoline Engine onto the back. With some axle modification and a custom made hub, it got up to maybe 20mph, and covered maybe 3 miles before I stopped using it in favor of projects with brakes. As well, I took the internal components of a single cylinder engine, and designed and made a clear acrylic engine block and head to assemble them in, resulting in a great learning tool.

Gamification of Sensory Analysis

Faire: Rome

Maker: Simply SFA

To define the sensory profile of a product according to UNI/ISO standards, the test must be carried out in sensory booths; "white rooms" where it is tested in ideal conditions. ISO booths are not easy to find, so we decided to make them portable: the Sensorial Stations. These can be of various types: • ISO Mode a sensory booth • Desk Mode a sensory desk • MiniSens which transforms any desk into an ISO station But our aim is to highlight how the tasting of products changes according to the conditions in which it takes place. This is why we want to train and challenge the senses of consumers to recognize the characteristics of the products in any environment.

RayLights – Audio Activated Lumiere

Dotzero

Faire: Rome

Maker: 0. srl

Dotzero is a Tuscan sneaker startup that is revolutionizing the footwear industry through upcycling and sustainable innovation. Dotzero's mission is to create shoes that are not only high-quality and visually appealing, but also environmentally responsible. By using materials sourced from waste and production excess, Dotzero transforms these resources into new sneakers, thus reducing the environmental impact of footwear production. What sets Dotzero apart is its approach to the infinite recyclability of its shoes. Once a Dotzero shoe reaches the end of its lifecycle, customers can return it to the company through a take-back and recycling program. The shoes are then disassembled, and the materials are recovered and reintegrated into the production process, minimizing waste and promoting a circular economy. Dotzero also commits to using cutting-edge technologies, such as blockchain, to ensure the traceability and certification of its productions. Through the use of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), each pair of Dotzero sneakers is registered on a public blockchain, providing consumers with the assurance of authenticity and the sustainable origin of the materials used. Dotzero serves as a benchmark for the sustainable footwear industry, demonstrating that it is possible to combine style, quality, and environmental respect. With their innovation and commitment, Dotzero is redefining the concept of sneakers, paving the way for a more sustainable future for the fashion industry.

Despite being boxy and simple, it looks friendly and kids delight in it. Everyone asks 'are you a real robot?' to which I answer yes.
