When we learn about cells in school, we are taught that they are small, simple, stupid building blocks of larger organisms. But in fact cells can be extremely complex and can do amazing things, including making decisions, solving puzzles, even blowing themselves up!
Wallace Marshall
Wallace Marshall is an electrical engineering who studies cell biology. He is professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at UCSF, and he directs the Center for Cellular Construction, a consortium whose goal is to learn how to control cell structure to solve real world problems.
