The NeedleArts Zone
The purpose of The NeedleArts Zone is to teach needlearts (knitting, crochet, needlepoint, cross-stitch, spinning and weaving) in the fun environment of Maker Faire.
The NeedleArts Zone teaches knitting, crochet, needlepoint, cross-stitch, spinning, and weaving to all ages. We do not charge for lessons, and there is no time-frame. Just drop in and learn! Learning supplies are given to the students for free.
What inspired you to make this project?:
Originally an educational outreach program of The National NeedleArts Association, we were inspired by one of our members who had attended a Maker Faire. We have taught over 30,000 people in 9 Bay Area, 8 Detroit, and 8 New York World Maker Faires. When the organization could no longer fund the program due to financial issues, several of us who had been involved with the program since inception decided to take it over ourselves and raise money to cover the expenses via crowdfunding.
