After debuting at MakerFaire last May, the 60-pound, 8-foot long SeaCharger set off on a journey to become the first solar-powered autonomous boat to travel from California to Hawaii. This is the story of the making of SeaCharger and its epic journey across the Pacific.

Damon McMillan created SeaCharger with help from friends JT Zemp, Troy Arbuckle, and Matt Stowell. Damon has been building unmanned aircraft and surface vehicles for 14 years, as both an aeronautical and mechanical engineer. He loves the challenge of working on difficult projects with only limited resources.
