Grant Diffendaffer is a designer, maker, educator and digital fabrication enthusiast. Widely recognized for his work with polymer clay, he is transitioning many of his ways of designing and making to the digital realm.
Jewelry and accessories that bridge the gap between handcraft tradition & digital fabrication. Created with 3D printing, metal clay, CNC embroidery, and natural materials. Also featuring replicas of ancient artifacts made with photogrammetry.
What inspired you to make this project?:
I've long been fascinated with ornamental arts, especially wearables. Bringing together digital technology and handcraft provides an opportunity to improve each through the interaction. I'm inspired when I can create something of true value from humble materials and the right tool. For me the payoff is to ultimately hold in my hands and then share a thing of beauty that is the fruit of long attention, hard work and caring about how things are made.
