"STREETBEATS"

A totally improvisational, "LIVE" in the moment, hi-energy musical performance featuring the Drum and Percussion stylings of John F. King II. This is done using a home "MAKER'D" Drumset consisting of a pile of junk/garbage and who knows what.

What inspired you to make this project?:
Several years ago I was enjoying a rewarding and busy lifestyle as a working Musician. Concerts, festivals, clubs, studio work etc. One night after a club gig in San Jose, CA, my vehicle was broken into and a rather large cache of drums and percussion gear as well. Overnight my whole world came crashing in . So after nearly two weeks of shedding tears and agonizing, I had to do something. A friend of mine and Bay Area Jazz guitarist, spoke words of encouragement. He told me that it didn't matter that I didn't have expensive, store-bought, traditional equipment. He said that the spirit of the drum is inside me. So, just play. The drive and passion still burning inside me, I began to re-invent myself. One pot and pan at a time. My meticulously designed and handcrafted drum set wows everyone who sees and hears it and has been copied and mimicked all over. In fact, my design and detailed attention to tone is so revolutionary that Latin Percussion,Co. has created store bought version of my kit that is now sold at Guitar Center.
