What inspired you to make this project?:
My friend Ken Young, inventor of the world's first sport sandal, the Alp Sandal (acquired by Teva), came up with the original Siege Stove Cross-Member concept after finding other stoves to be unstable, heavy, finicky and not robust enough. After looking around for solutions, it occurred to him that cans are surprisingly durable, extremely light and be had for free or an extremely low cost -- a stainless steel IKEA canister is only $2.50 and combined with the Siege Cross-Members makes a beautiful stove that in a magazine review outperformed all 9 other wood-burning stoves it went up against! And of course there is also a re-use benefit, as discarded cans get a second life. I have been helping inventors for nearly 20 years and partnered with Ken to further develop and launch the product. Ken has had to step away from the effort, but the overwhelming enthusiasm that we receive from customers has encouraged me to take it to the next step with a coming crowdfunding campaign.
