Pulse

Pulse is an anatomically-correct heart, beating fire through its 4 chambers to emulate blood flow through the human heart. Using biosensors, participants can synchronize the flame effects with their own heartbeat or trigger fire bursts with buttons.

What inspired you to make this project?:
Nature and anatomy have a long history of inspiring the art produced by Flaming Lotus Girls. Pulse is no exception. We
were inspired by the both the physiology and cultural symbolism of the heart. The heart is a single muscle that winds around
itself, pulsing in a simple , intricately-coordinated rhythm to pump life blood through our organism and sustain us. It is at the
core of our being both physically and symbolically. The heart is associated with love, life, passion, persistence, and connectivity.

The heart pumping blood through it, naturally lends itself a kinetic with flame effects. We were inspired about the challenge
of recreating this is a way that can allow people to connect with their our heartbeats visually and sensually; and the majesty
of this great organ that sustains us.
