San José State University Spartan Superway Team is developing the world's first solar-powered, automated rapid transit ascendant network (SPARTAN) system that will revolutionize sustainable urban transportation.
Spartan Superway - solar-powered, automated rapid transit ascendant network. Automated pod-cars will carry passengers without stops from their origin to their destination in a citywide network of track that is suspended above the city streets.
What inspired you to make this project?:
It is our collective goal to create the world's first solar-power, automated rapid transit ascendant network (SPARTAN) system that will revolutionize urban transportation. The SPARTAN system will reduce traffic congestion, carbon emissions, pedestrian-to-car collisions, and car-to-car collisions. The SPARTAN system will be 100 percent sustainable, automated, non-stop origin to destination, and elevated above existing rights-of-way making it SANE transportation.
