Watershed School - Spirit of Creativity May Term
Watershed students have come to Maker Faire as part of a course called Spirit of Creativity. They are pursuing answers to questions like "Where do ideas come from?" and "Can creativity be learned?" and "How does creativity change what is possible?"
Join the Watershed School from Boulder, Colorado for an introduction (or reintroduction) to stamp carving and the curious world of letterboxing. Carve your own stamp and seek the various hand-carved stamps hidden through the Maker Faire.
What inspired you to make this project?:
In regards to improving the Maker Faire experience for my students, I wanted them to take an active roll in the event. Students who can teach what they know take their learning to a higher level. In regards to the inspiration of bringing stamp carving and letterboxing to Maker Faire, letterboxing is very much a hidden world right under our nose. You could be walking by a beautifully hand-carved stamp that tells a story of place, history, or more and not even know it. Inviting Maker Faire attendees into that world and facilitating their participation is a way to encourage creativity and add a little more mystery and magic to the world.
