AstroPrint

AstroPrint

AstroPrint is the Android of the 3D printing world. The AstroBox free/open software lets you slice and 3D print from anywhere (works on most 3DPs). Developers can even build and launch their own 3D printing apps on the AstroPrint Cloud.

What inspired you to make this project?:
I have a Bachelors in Sports Medicine and a Masters in Chinese medicine. Weird, huh? In addition, I have a lot of experience with basic programming (PHP and ASP) and have had several small web based startups. I was trying to make some medical prototypes to market and sell to the physical therapy community. Hand moldable plastics weren't working for me, so I bought a cheap (at the time) 3D printer, taught myself CAD, and starting making prototypes.

I immediately fell in love with 3D printing, but was bothered by reading online about all the problems people were having getting successful prints. I saw how software solutions could solve this for many people and therefore allow less tech savvy people to use 3D printers.

I just want to help everyone use this amazing technology, regardless of their technical skill level!
