At Shelter Publications, Lloyd Kahn “makes” his books by hand, using just a printer, a copier, a proportion wheel, scissors, and removable tape. He feels it helps his creativity to not be locked into the exact requirements of the computer.

We have been publishing high-quality soft cover books for more than 40 years. We operate out of a studio set in a garden in the small Northern California coastal town of Bolinas. We create each book from scratch.
