I am passionate about creating, painting, and sewing. I enjoy raising my two children, volunteering at schools, and running my business "Sugar Plush" and Etsy store. My design goals are simple: bring joy to life through creating and sharing.
Come create and decorate your own plush marshmallow toy with us! Starting with kid-friendly kit, you stuff, sew, and decorate a cute new friend using new and upcycled materials. Sign or name your creation on the sewn-on "Handmade by" label.
What inspired you to make this project?:
I have two inspirations: my children and FabMo.
After nine years of volunteering in my kid's classrooms, I have come to realize how important it is to follow my passions... to create and sew. I learned to see the beauty and effort put into simple art created by three year old kids. Being with kids allowed me to relive the joy of childhood - creating for fun, appreciating simplicity, and enjoy the happy warmth from simple sewing.
My kids and I discovered FabMo at a Maker Faire several years ago. After spending much of our time at their exhibit, I came to realize that it is the process of making things and sense of accomplishment that made my kids happy and wanting to stay at the table. In an effort reduce our global footprint, all of materials used in decorating plush marshmallows shown the photos were upcycled material or purposed materials from FabMo or Scrap centers.
My DIY plush marshmallows are a reflection of how a simple creation can bring great joy to life. Each marshmallow develops its own personality upon completion and it is a true reflection of their creator. No matter the outcome, we get the most joy from the process of creating. I want to share that feeling.
