The Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) is a New York State Education Department (NYSED) grant-funded initiative aimed at increasing the participation of underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students in STEM fields and licensed professions. Serving students in grades 7 through 12, STEP offers free STEM workshops at New York City College of Technology (CUNY).

At the Maker Faire, the STEP Drone Team will showcase the fundamental principles of drone design, operation, safety, and real-world applications. They will also lead hands-on demonstrations using a variety of educational drones.

STEP Drone Team

The STEP Drone Team is composed of middle and high school students who participated in the STEP STEM workshops at New York City College of Technology during Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. These students will also lead hands-on demonstrations using a variety of educational drones.

What Inspired You to Make This?

The drone demonstration will offer audiences a comprehensive introduction to the exciting world of drone technology. Participants/audiences will explore the principles of drone design, operation, safety, and a range of real-world applications. The demonstration combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical sessions, providing a well-rounded understanding of drone technology.
