West Islip Robotics Team
Home: New York, United States of America
The West Islip High School Robotics Team is run under the non-profit organization FIRST Inspires. This non-profit's aim is to create equal access to STEAM (Science. Technology. Engineering. Arts. Mathematics.) and robotics for all. Each year, students in the club build a robot from scratch and compete against teams across the country and around the globe. Our goal is to give students the opportunity to learn the uses of STEAM in our everyday life. As well as necessary life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and creativity. Including how to use tools, real engineering machinery, and coding.

To gain an opportunity and experience that will stick with team members through the rest of their lives. As well as the ability to hone in technical and innovation skills which can give students a head-start in future career paths. Our robot's design created new possibilities for teachable moments. Such as creating and building an elevator from scratch, and rope.
