Coleen Castro
I'm Coleen Castro and I've been a Fiber Artist for over 20 years. I learned to spin out of necessity when I found myself with 20 lbs of alpaca fiber from my first little herd of four alpacas. The norm was to send it to a co-op and received yarn back that matched the poundage you sent in, but I wanted to have yarn from my own animals rather than a combination of similar colors. So I jumped in fingers first and learned how to scour fleece, prepare it for spinning, spin it into yarn, weave it into shawls, and even wet and needle felting. I am mostly self taught and recently improved my scouring skills through an on-line course from Camaj Fiber Arts. Currently my husband and I have a little micro farm in Orangevale called End of the Road Microfarm or ETR Farm for short. From June through August the public can schedule a tour where I teach everyone who visits about our garden, our animals, and my fiber art and how it all interconnects. I also teach private fiber arts classes and hope to add some regular
