Making projects that combine art and technology, Cecilia hopes to inspire you by sharing her knowledge in this hands-on cardboard Automata Workshop using the Maker Faire robot as your muse. An automaton generally refers to a moving, mechanical device, usually constructed to look like a human, animal or even a robot! Automatons are built to give the illusion of acting as if by their own power, despite comprising only of mechanical systems. There is a materials fee for this workshop.

Cecilia Hillway
Cecilia was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. Her love for drawing started at a young age, as did her obsession with comic books and animals. After graduating with a degree in Graphic Design, she met her husband. She moved to the US where she started a career in education that included being a Maker Space Associate and a Technology Specialist. She now lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her husband, her cats, and a growing army of robots and illustrated characters.
