Dragon Puppet

Meet a Turquoise Dragon- If you hold out your hand, she might just come and land on you!

Developed with years of careful prototyping, complex linkages and anatomical study, it's easy to forget this is a puppet. Laura uses a blend of contemporary and traditional making methods, such as wood carving, laser cutting and 3D printing, to make her truly realistic puppets. They walkabout (flyabout!) and interact with people of all ages, creating delightful micro-narratives... but be careful, even little dragons can bite!

Laura Mathews

Laura Mathews (Nottingham, UK) has always been fascinated by biological mechanics, the interplay of bone, muscle and tendon. After discovering laser cutting whilst studying Decorative Arts at University, she developed increasingly complex articulated animal sculptures. In 2018 Laura made the leap into puppetry, bringing her creatures to life!
