The Invisible World of Radio Waves
Home: Illinois, United States
Radio waves are all around us, including radio, television, and cellular signals. Visit us to see some less common examples of radio including amateur radio and satellite communications. Send and receive messages to other attendees using radio.

Makers

Ralph Iden
Ralph has been a licensed amateur radio operator since he was a teenager and still has his original callsign, WB9ICF. Amateur radio provides an endless amount of fuel to feed his curiosity and love of lifelong learning. Some of his many interests include contacting other amateurs around the world with simple equipment, building useful (and some not so useful) things with Raspberry Pis and Arduinos, designing electronic projects, 3D printing, and generally living the Maker dream.

Dave Holmgren
Dave is another long-time amateur radio operator with callsign K9AT. Dave is an excellent communicator and mentor (an "Elmer" in amateur radio lingo). He is eager to share his knowledge and experience in order to educate and assist other amateur operators and prospective ones. When he is not evaluating the latest Apple technology, handheld radios, chatting with his ham buddies, or admiring color touchscreens, Dave enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family, pets, and the family's pet robotic lawnmower, Mo.
