Marc Rosenkranz
Graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from CCNY, Marc Rosenkranz embarked on a successful career in Connecticut, where he excelled in selling medical instrumentation and IT to various healthcare facilities. The transformative role of 3D printing emerged in Marc's life in 2012 when he needed a prototype for an invention. Faced with a substantial investment or the option to 3D print the prototype, Marc chose the latter. This decision led him to purchase a 3D printer kit, assemble it, and delve into the realm of 3D printing, sparking a newfound interest. In 2018, Marc's passion for kinetic art materialized as he designed and built a new 3D printer, utilizing spare parts from his initial printer. Admiring kinetic art, he chose a motor-driven approach instead of the conventional springs. The ingenuity of Marc's design lies in its ability to conceal technology, allowing observers to focus solely on the exquisite hardwood and be mesmerized by its smooth, silent rotation. Marc honed hi
What Inspired You to Make This?
Captivated by the allure of wooden kinetic art, I decided to make one for my own enjoyment. Utilizing spare parts from a 3D printer I assembled, I embarked on creating a wood sculpture that eliminated the need for periodic winding, as dealing with springs seemed overly laborious. Upon completing my kinetic art, healthcare professionals lauded its potential benefits for patients, particularly those undergoing procedures or experiencing pain. Intrigued by the positive feedback, I delved into researching the advantages of positive distraction, prompting me to expand my endeavors by constructing additional units.
