Tinker Coop
Tinker Coop is a community makerspace based in Berkeley, CA, dedicated to providing after-school and summer STEM and robotics programs for young people in grades 4-8. We also offer community-building activities like family maker nights and teen improv classes. Our goal is to increase joy around STEM and innovation, cultivate student leaders, and build community.

My young makers are very enthusiastic about STEM, making things, robotics, and chickens. Our community makerspace is full of chicken puns and iconography. When brainstorming a project for Maker Faire this year, a student suggested a fortune-telling chicken that poops out fortunes. Upon learning about the 1764 digesting duck automaton, their minds were made up. Maker Faire is the best way to share our joy and skills with a wider community, as well as an invaluable opportunity to learn from and inspire others.
