DIY Energy Tube: Light it Up!

Join us for a hands-on activity and learn to build an energy tube using simple materials: construction paper, tape, clay, alligator clips, a 9V battery, and multi-colored LED lights. Learn how to complete a circuit using your body—and experiment with other everyday objects like water, utensils, cans, and even food to test what conducts electricity! This interactive project introduces the science of open and closed circuits, conductors and insulators, in a way that's visual, memorable, and fun. Kids and families will create their own circuit stick, then watch it light up when they become part of the circuit themselves. It's a one-of-a-kind STEM activity that brings science to life.

Solar Generator

I made a Solar Generator at Unallocated Maker Space. It’s a portable device that can supply 120 AC power in remote locations and or in times of Emergencies. I would like to demonstrate my project. I have no commercial interest. The system breaks down into two suitcases and a bag full of cables plus solar panels. I have spare parts and diagnostic equipment from the generator's creation to use as props for the demo along with photos of the process. (Sustainability & Green Tech) The solar generator is made with reclaimed LiFePo Cells. The cells were harvested from old packs tested for charge and discharge characteristics then rebuilt into differently configured packs. (Design and Fabrication) Raw PCBs were made from files and I populated the board by hand.

A real powder fire extinguisher used in extinguishing real fires. A fire extinguisher with one fill can confidently extinguish 3-4 sufficiently large fires. The fire extinguisher weighs 5 kg, which allows even a seven-year-old child to confidently use this fire extinguisher. It's also important that we specifically chose such a fire extinguisher that you can easily refuel multiple times in your city. Almost every city has a gas station for such fire extinguishers.

UofL’s River City Rocketry

We will display 2 projects, one is our liquid DPF engine that will be used for the DPF challenge, something we have been working on for the past year. The second project is one of our previous year large-scale competition rockets that we will showcase. We are River City Rocketry, a nationally ranked collegiate rocket team that designs, manufactures, and launches high powered rockets in a rocketry competition. Founded in 2011, we are a creative RSO dedicated to the creation and engineering of high powered competition rockets. We work on these rockets and compete at a collegiate level in the annual International Rocket Engineering Competition, the largest collegiate rocketry competition in the world.
