Dimensional Dreams: Coral Reef

Dimensional Dreams: Coral Reef is a 4ft wide by 4ft tall shadow box illuminated with over 300 LEDs and controlled with a button inside of a treasure chest. This project is made of 10 laser cut white acrylic layers of coral and rocks and 3 clear laser etched layers with over 10 species of tropical sea creatures. The clear etched layers with fish sit directly on top of the LEDs, creating an illusion that the fish are suspended in the water and the LED animations developed for this project gives the appearance of fish swimming through the reef. The LEDs are programmed with Arduino and the project runs on a Teensy 4.1 microcontroller.

Těšit se můžete na pokusy, experimenty, high-tec přístroje, workshopy, 3D tisk nebo vhled do neuronových sítí a AI. To vše pod heslem UP to the Future. Představí se… Katedra matematické analýzy a aplikací matematiky PřF UP Velké jazykové modely představují revoluci, která mění svět podobně, jako jej kdysi změnil vynález spalovacího motoru. Přitom základní princip umělých neuronových sítí je překvapivě jednoduchý. U našeho stánku si můžete na mechanickém modelu vyzkoušet, z jakých základních jednotek se velké jazykové modely skládají a jak probíhá proces jejich učení. Vyzkoušejte si, jak umělá inteligence rozpoznává obrázky, a zjistěte, jak se z jednoduchých principů rodí moderní technologie. Zastavte se popovídat s pracovníky a studenty aplikované matematiky z Univerzity Palackého v Olomouci, kteří se věnují Data Science, umělé inteligenci a průmyslové matematice. UP_LAB Pevnosti poznání UP_LAB je kreativní prostor určený pro každého, koho zajímají moderní technologie – od rodin s dětmi až po dospělé a seniory. Školy si navíc mohou objednat vzdělávací programy. Na stanovišti představíme workshopy pro veřejnost. Návštěvníci si mohou vyzkoušet práci s 3D perem. Katedra geoinformatiky PřF UP Každá věc, zvíře, člověk či proces má své místo v prostoru a čase – a právě s těmito informacemi pracuje geoinformatika, moderní vědní obor propojující svět dat, map a technologií. Pomáhá lépe chápat svět kolem nás a zjednodušovat každodenní život. Na našem stánku se seznámíte s tím, kde všude se geoinformatika uplatňuje – od tvorby interaktivních map a analýzy družicových snímků až po využití 3D tisku, virtuální reality, eye-trackingu či navigačních systémů. Can Cells Think?

What kinds of things can think? Just humans? Just animals? We usually feel that thinking, cognition, learning, and anything "mental" requires a brain, but is that really true? Single cells can show a suprising range of complex behaviors that we normally associate with thought, including problem solving, goal-directed behavior, and simple forms of learning. We will present a hands-on demonstration of some of these behaviors, using giant single-celled organisms we collect from the pond, and testing their behaviors using home-brew apparatus based on Arduino that anyone can build at home. We hope to inspiure attendees to build their own experiments to test cell thought, and also to change the way you think about what it means to think!
