Slapstitch Embroidery

Slapstitch is a one-woman traditional chain stitch embroidery shop that operates out of Queens, NY. Each piece is lovingly hand-made by yours truly from design, to fabrication, to embellishment, to you! My work is heavily inspired by a childhood one stop away from Coney Island on the D train (Gravesend, baby) and a young adulthood in a too-fast, often uncaring world. I try to pay homage to the city that raised me through riot-grrl inspired designs and motifs, and I'm a staunch advocate for slow, sloppy, manmade art.

My work is a combination of knit , sewing , and dyeing . I dye patterns into my work to give it more dimension and to make them truly unique. Each piece is able to fit everyone as they are very stretchy which allows them to take on the shape of the wearer. In my work I hope for everyone to see themselves.

The Worlds: Surrealism Fantasy is an immersive AR experience designed as a getaway experience for those seeking a break from the fast-paced city life. Inspired by the growing trend of “city detox,” the project invites visitors to explore three unique micro-worlds of abstraction, wired-cored aesthetic playground, and mysterious forest. Each offering a distinct environment to escape routine and dive into imagination. By simply scanning a QR code with phone, visitors step seamlessly between physical and digital realities. Each “world” transforms static space into dynamic. The project creates inclusive story-driven experiences that reimagines how we engage with space and imagination in a hybrid world.

Polyshrink Art

Welcome to the wonderful world of Polyshrink art! In this workshop we’ll be drawing with colored pencils on Polyshrink sheets. The work is then placed in a toaster oven where the heat shrinks the image to its original size, in this case 11/2”-2”. The color intensifies and details become impossibly small. Come and be amazed! Elliot is a freshman in high school who makes Kaijus and anime figures out of pipe cleaners. Elliot was hatched out of an oyster and washed ashore on the beaches of Narragansett Bay, and has been creating creatures from the deep ever since.
