FRC Cybercats Robotics

FRC is an annual season where high school teams, along with their coaches and mentors, design, build, and program robots. Each year, the competition features a unique game with specific challenges that the robots must complete. Most recently, in our 2024-2025 season– Reefscape, the objective is to place Coral (a 4-inch diameter PVC pipe) on the reef (1.25-inch diameter pole), with the first 15 seconds of each match fully autonomous and the subsequent 2 minutes and 15 seconds under driver control. We look forward to sharing with you everything behind the robot!

Playful Engineers’ Traveling Maker Space invites problem-solvers of all ages to join us in building, testing, and running a series of incredible, multi-faceted chain reactions. Come build whimsical and creative cause-and-effect machines using everyday materials that we provide - from dominoes and tracks, to balls, blocks, cars, spiralators, zip lines, tetherballs, and gravity-powered carousels. Inspired by Rube Goldberg-style inventions, we encourage open-ended play, teamwork, and joyful experimentation. Drop in and start building a small contraption, or help us build our big one - no experience necessary, just curiosity and creativity! Whether our designs fizzle, flop, fail, or fly, we'll have fun learning and growing as engineers!

NY Sun Works Hydroponic Classrooms

Stony Brook Solar Electric Boat

Stony Brook Solar Racing is a student-led design team dedicated to designing and building high-performance solar electric boats for two annual competitions: Solar Splash and Promoting Electric Propulsion (PEP). Each year, the team constructs two vessels—a manned and an unmanned. The manned boat is 14 feet long, runs on 36 volts, and controlled via throttle and steering levers. For Solar Splash, solar panels are mounted to continuously recharge the batteries. The unmanned vessel, which competes exclusively in PEP, is a half-scale model of the manned vessel, and was originally remote controlled, but is currently getting upgraded for autonomous operation.
