LYBRA – Energy from Traffic

LYBRA: an energy harvesting device, patented in EU & USA, that reduces the speed of vehicles by converting kinetic energy, otherwise wasted by the brakes, into electrical energy A vehicle passes over LYBRA and its momentum compresses the surface. The vehicle undergoes higher rolling friction on the wheels, which absorbs the kinetic energy. The compression of the LYBRA surface activates a patented generator capable of converting the absorbed energy into electrical energy. The energy produced is stabilized and sent to a normal PV inverter for on-site self-consumption.

Justin Grays Fire Sculpture robots! Showing this weekend are Libby, Boris, Darwin and the H.M.W.L.R. (high mobility wheeled logistics robot). Libby the robot was repowered approximately 14 years ago with old telecom battery's but special for Maker Faire 2024 she has been repowered with all new lithium batteries. She has hydraulic tracks driven remotely with ethanol and propane fire. Boris the robot: Boris has also been repowered with lithium battery's! Originally built in 2009 with a debut show in Denmark Boris is built from and old tracked trenching machine. Darwin: An old soul, Darwin was built over 20 years ago, powered by dual 30hp dc motors with tons of power.

Climate change, farmers are facing issues ,RobotSave-Gebox provide a farm bot embedded with various sensors to collect soil and weather data from agricultural soil and then send it over Lorawan to the server for quick analysis and prediction with the result describing the probability of production of each type of crop corresponding to the soil and precise location, fertility knowledge of the soil with the suitable condition needed to have a good productivity yield( amount of water needed, type of natural fertiliser to use) in real-time through an end-user mobile and pc application interface.

The Ghost EV

This is a very high efficiency electric vehicle built from the ground up. It seats two people in tandem for a very low CD (coefficient of drag) and a small cross section. The Ghost uses only 18KWh of batteries but gets 100 miles per charge in real world driving and even more on pure highway driving. This has an AC motor, regenerative braking and lithium batteries. It is street legal, registered and insured. The body is made of an aluminum nose in the front and a wood strip for the rest. The goal was to make a modern retro design reminiscent of the 1920's Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. Most people like fast sports cars, but I prefer highly efficient, practical designs that can be made at a low cost.
