We are excited that your school group is interested in coming to Maker Faire Bay Area Field Trip Day!

  • Maker Faire Bay Area Field Trip Day 2024 programming will be:

  • Friday, October 18, 2024 @ 10AM - 3PM

    To qualify for the discounted group rate to Maker Faire Bay Area Student Days, you need to buy tickets for groups of 10 or more students from a public school, private school, home school, college, or university.

    If your group consists of less than 10 students, we encourage you to reach out to other local school groups or pods to form a larger group and join in the Faire experience together.

    The last day to submit this application, and purchase tickets, is Monday, September 30, 2024.

    We will review your application and respond with its status soon. Please be on the lookout for an email with your application's status and ticketing link.

    If you plan to pay by Purchase Order/check, read more here about how to submit a PO. (Check payments are due by Monday, October 7, 2024.)

  • Please spell out the name of your district vs. using acronyms.
  • Please copy and paste the full link below. Example: http://www.myschool.com/.
  • This needs to be the teacher or school representative that will be purchasing tickets for the group, and will be at the Faire with the group.
  • For use at the event.
  • This needs to be an account that can accept attachments.
  • Examples: K, 1, 2, 3; or Grades 4-6, 11-12; etc.
  • Please defer to your school’s student to chaperone ratio.
  • If none, please enter the number zero.
  • The Faire opens at 10 am; early arrivals will not be admitted and buses will be sent to stage off-site if they arrive early.

Set-Up Crew
For the helpers, the EARLY birds, and those that love arranging things JUST SO. ***Friday morning shift ONLY. Must be willing/able to be onsite early with a can-do attitude and sense of urgency to help Makers set up their exhibits before the Gates open for attendees.***
Information Booth Assistant
For those that enjoy talking with large quantities of people, are really good at giving directions, and like to have ALL the information so they can answer lots and LOTS of questions.
Hands-on Activity Facilitator
For those that are good at explaining things, are extremely patient, and enjoy teaching others how to perform complex, multi-step activities.
Welcoming Committee
For those undaunted by crowds, who have a thousand watt smiles, and possess excellent vocal projection skills.
Gallery Docent
For those that have great situational awareness, enjoy answering more in-depth questions, and are really good at giving directions.
Maker Assistant
For those with boundless amounts of energy, excellent problem solving skills, and an endless desire to help/move around. Comfortable walking shoes are required for this role!

Mare Island was the inaugural US Navy base on the Pacific Ocean. Situated just 25 miles northeast of  San Francisco in Vallejo, California, this iconic shipyard is uniquely bordered by the  Napa River. Immerse yourself in its rich heritage as the river flows through the Mare Island Strait.

Explore the hidden gem of Mare Island, a world nestled in the heart of the Bay Area with a vibrant industrial charm.

Parking Information:

Prepaid parking passes are available through Eventbrite for $10. 

Parking passes are available for purchase onsite for $20.

Shuttles run every 2O minutes but if you prefer to walk from parking to the venue there is a pedestrian path and way finding.

Parking is FREE on Fridays.

Ferry Information:

Saturdays and Sundays only:

Shuttle pick up from the Vallejo Ferry Terminal at 11:20 am and 12:20 pm with drop off at the Maker Faire Gates.

Return is even easier Ferry all the way. Ferry departs Mare Island at 3:20 pm

The only return option is the Ferry departing Mare Island at 3:20pm. We will not have return shuttles going back to the Vallejo Ferry Terminal.

Getting to Maker Faire

Take Highway 101 to Highway 37 towards Vallejo.

Before the raised overpass, take the Mare Island/Walnut Avenue exit.

Take the I-80 freeway west toward Vallejo. Take exit 33B to merge onto Highway 37 west toward Novato/San Rafael.

Take the I-680 freeway over the Benicia Bridge to I-780 west. I-780 becomes Curtola Parkway.

Follow Curtola Parkway along the waterfront and past the marinas.

Turn left at Mare Island Causeway.
