I am a clothing artist working under the name: miss velvet cream Neocouture. I make ultrafemme clothing by hand, one piece at a time. These one of a kind pieces are cut, upcycled, remade and constructed from vintage, deadstock and offcut fabrics. I started sewing in 2003 in San Francisco, and am self-taught clothing designer. All my designs reflect an aesthetic of craft- stitches and seams are evident, multiple stitches are used, closures are intentionally obvious, edges are left raw and unfinished, and the construction elements are clearly visible. My first MAKERFAIRE was MFBA 2006, where I presented an upcycled denim chaps workshop and showed in the first upcycled fashion runway show.
