Handmade artwork, with designs inspired by publicly accessible digital archives. While the craft itself is traditional, I utilize my digital archivist background to conduct research during the design process.
Samantha Bourland
Originally a digital archivist, Samantha developed Rosie Moon Creations as a way to integrate traditional design methods into a modern context. Through detailed research and long nights combing various online archives, she has amassed a reference gallery including thousands of traditional crafts such as stone carvings, book plates, and textiles. All of these amazing resources are only available because of organizations like the Internet Archive. Around 90% of Rosie's work uses traditional art methods, such as ink drawing and painting, during the actual creation process.
