Megahedra
Maker Faire Bay Area 2026
September 25th-27th
Megahedra is a hands-on magnetic building system where visitors physically assemble all 28 convex uniform honeycombs plus countless other structures, using just 14 precision-engineered magnetic blocks. The breakthrough: a magnetic polarity scheme where the physics itself enforces the math, so pieces only click together in valid configurations. At our exhibit, three build stations let 6-9 people snap pieces together at once, watching cubes, prisms, and 12 other convex uniform polyhedral blocks interlock into striking geometric patterns. Megahedra turns abstract geometry into something you can hold, build, and explore. Come build a honeycomb with us!
Stephen Dockter
My name is Steve, and I love to build and invent. I've had a lifelong desire to create a universal building system — something that captures the deep structure of space in just a handful of pieces. By trade, I'm a mechanical engineer who has spent two decades designing things that work in the harshest places on Earth, from deep-sea instruments to precision sensors. That obsession with precision collided with my building-system dream, and Megahedra was born — a magnetic system where the blocks simply refuse to snap together in the wrong way. I live in Colorado and am still finding new structures within Megahedra.
