Making for Good & Good Making
Maker Faire Bay Area 2026
September 25th-27th
Making has reached the farthest corners of the Earth - and it has a special role to play disaster relief, poverty reduction, economic development and healthcare. You will hear stories from around the world about how making is making a difference.
With making going mainstream, in some places it is competing with manufacturing. So the next question is... how do we tell if what is being made is any good? In an paradigm where anyone can make, say, a medical device in their own home, how do we know what to trust? We will announce a new project on 'Distributed Quality Management' that is beginning to look into how to answer this question.
This talk is made possible by support from the National Science Foundation.
