E.D.A.M. - A Modern & Improved Seance Table by JSE Electrical Life Ltd

Maker Faire Bay Area 2026

September 25th-27th

In 2023, the Portland Museum of Natural History was gifted financial means by the Everington Family Fund to continue the work to acquire and restore the inventions of Jordan Sinclair Everington (J.S.E.). The goal was to use these works to anchor the “Oregon Historical Technology” permanent exhibition at the museum as part of the ongoing expansion, and to cast light on this forgotten member of the Golden Age of scientific exploration.

Recently, the Museum was able to acquire an early work of J.S.E.’s, from 1922. The piece, “An All Electric, Modern & Improved Seance Table” was donated from an anonymous private collector. While in remarkable condition, the work to restore it to full working order is a slow process of conservation. Of note has been the sourcing of period correct fittings and electrical apparatus.
