B.O.A.T (Boat Of Amphibious Tendencies)

Maker Faire Bay Area 2026

September 25th-27th

Sat & Sun Exhibit Fabrication

The B.O.A.T. is a custom 300 lb aluminum 2-seater amphibious vehicle engineered to fit inside a standard hatchback. It utilizes six high-powered brushless motors: four motors that are belt-reduced for quiet ground drive and two submerged outboard motors for marine propulsion. These allow it to rapidly accelerate to speeds of over 23 mph on land and 30 mph in the water.

Hey, I'm Matthew! I'm a mechanical engineer at Atomic Semi who loves building anything from robotics to rollercoasters. When I'm not deep into a strange personal design project like the B.O.A.T., you can usually find me playing the drums or hitting the trails on my DIY e-bike.
