Aera Garden: A Living Lamp That Tracks Your Air Quality
Maker Faire Bay Area 2026
September 25th-27th
Aera Garden is a living lamp that helps you see and improve the atmosphere inside your home. It combines an indoor garden, adaptive lighting, and air-quality sensing within a piece of furniture crafted from natural materials. The garden brings life and warm light into the room, while hidden sensors monitor environmental conditions and gently reveal when the space could benefit from fresh air. Aera explores a future where health technology disappears into beautiful, everyday objects, and where our homes help us better understand the environments shaping how we feel.

Taran Ravindran is a mechatronics engineer and multidisciplinary maker working at the intersection of furniture, electronics, and environmental design. He enjoys carrying ideas from rough sketches through CAD, circuit boards, CNC machining, fabrication, and working prototypes. Aera Garden grew from his belief that technology for the home can be both useful and beautiful: an object made from natural materials and living plants that quietly helps people understand their indoor environment. Outside of Aera, Taran builds furniture, robots, and occasionally overambitious machines in his workshop.
