Shiny the Robot wanders around the Faire, mixing with humans, because this is the future and robots live among us. He likes to talk to people, especially children because they are about as tall as he is. He gestures with his head and arms and glows with light.

As far as robots are concerned, Shiny is a puppet because he is radio controlled and voiced by humans. Even so, how many famous puppets have made people happy?
