Lose Yourself

Maker Faire Bay Area 2025

September 26th-28th

Art & Design

This installation aims to immerse users into a meditational experience through the use of Arabic Sufi music and Islamic geometry, which reflects a faith-based art practice. By taking the user into an immersive experience of sound and light, the user's current state of mind is encouraged to enter a trance-like state. The change in mind states is captured through the biometric signals from the EEG device, and can in turn alter the colors and geometric art displayed.

Rahim Adatia

Techie turned artist. My most recent background is as a product manager for Meta, where I led product management within Reality labs focused on AR, Neural Interfaces, and Privacy. I am currently in the Master's program at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts. I have been developing my own art practice for the past 10 years, and most recently have been exploring mixing EEG/ECG devices with Islamic geometric designs. In addition to this piece, I have been exploring Generative AI to create new patterns based on different historical contexts. I have come to accept that my tech background is a big part of my art.
