Connect 4 Musical Instrument

Maker Faire Bay Area 2025

September 26th-28th

Music

The Connect 4 Musical Instrument transforms a classic game of Connect 4 into a live musical performance. Two players face off in a standard game, but with each move, they collaboratively generate a unique musical composition.
The red player triggers the drum patterns, while the yellow player controls the melodic sequences. As the game progresses, lights flash to indicate the rhythm and position of each beat in the musical grid.

Ben Einstein

Combining pineapple pyrotechnics, introspective songwriting, funny stories, left field covers, and the occasional fishing rod solo, Neeto is the unique music project of Van Goat keyboardist Ben Einstein. A singer/songwriter with a penchant for bizarre musical gadgets and a fascination with Web 1.0, Ben became laser-focused on turning anything with a USB port into a new musical instrument in the early 2010s. First it was a guitar hero controller in his band The Best Friends, then it was a light sensor/makeshift dart board while studying Electronic Music at UC Santa Cruz. These days, he's gone both tropical and maritime in, with both a (real!) pineapple triggering drum sounds and a fishing rod video game controller as a synthesizer.
