StickTogether Sticker Mosaic Puzzle Poster Kits are the inclusive, community-building, activity with a beautiful reward. The image starts as a mystery, just a blank canvas, and builds as everyone 'sticks together' to reveal the image. StickTogether was launched at MakerFaire in 2015 and was created for the Maker Community. Since 2015 Librarians, Media Specialists, Makerspaces, Teachers, Senior Facilities, Special Needs Programs and Community / Faith groups have fueled our growth, helping to spread the StickTogether Effect. In this workshop we will review the StickTogether Story and Product, we will share a few fun, pixel-related activities that you can use to add an extra dimension of fun while creating your StickTogether poster. We will end with all participants coming together around a Virtual Stickerboard which we will create as a group, virtually. There will be time for questions, feedback and conversation while we are ALL 'sticking together!'
What inspired you to make this project?:
The Maker Community inspired me. I wanted to make something that would bring the maker community together. StickTogether is inclusive. Everyone participates on the same level. It's a place to feel safe, relaxed and to connect with others. It's a place where everyone feel successful as a maker and can connect with other makers.
What are some of the challenges you have encountered and how did you address them?:
COVID was a huge challenge for us. We were very popular in schools and libraries, and our reach was growing, but when schools and libraries close, things came to a screeching halt. We created our Virtual Stickerboard product to help us stay connected with out community and to help our community stay connected to their communities, during this trying time.
