Making for Humanity - the TOM Story

Virtually Maker Faire 2020

May 22nd-23rd

Exhibit

To help flatten the curve during COVID-19, Tomglobal.org is providing an online platform for individuals and groups to join the global maker movement to co-develop, manufacture, and deliver open source protective solutions (PPE) and medical supplies to essential workers and forgotten frontlines worldwide. Our mission is to donate one million units of protective gear and other solutions by sharing knowledge and supporting the local manufacturing and distribution of solutions at below-market costs. To date, our volunteer communities and partners have self-manufactured and donated 50,000 units of PPE to assistive living, special education centers, fertility clinics, mental health facilities, and medical systems worldwide.

The panel discussion will provide an in-depth exploration of how TOM Communities in different regions of the world have responded to the challenges that arose from the COVID-19 pandemic. From identifying what are the local needs to identifying future trends and responding accordingly. From mobilizing individuals to creating long-lasting partnerships. From printing a Face Shield to designing a new Face Mask, our communities have done it all and are eager to share their experience.
