What inspired you to begin investigating your topic or inspired you to make your project?:
I have always had an interest in design in the context of the body. There are many avenues of material and form that are only recently being explored. "High-tech" fashion shows exist so that we can evaluate concepts, and test them out in the wild. This is especially successful when the right audience can be matched to the content, so they are seeking exactly the sort of novel designs on display. With this show, my intent is to expand the sphere of Maker fashion. Maker presentations are often heavy on electronics (especially LEDs) and Cosplay. There's certainly nothing wrong with that, and I want everyone included, however there is also a DIY angle which is more driven by the culture of art and fashion, which is especially rich in New York City.
